Here's Cunda...

The island can be seen from the coast of Ayvalık. It seems as if it is protecting Ayvalık from the open sea. After the Republic the islands name was changed to Alibey island because during the war of liberation the first bullet was fired at the enemy by Yarbay Ali Çetinkaya. Before the Republic the Greeks called the island ‘Moshonis’ (perfumed island), the Turks called it Cunda (top of the mast). Another explanation for the name Cunda comes from Piri reis’ book ‘ kitab-I bahriyesı’ where the islands of Yund are mentioned. This Yund ısland is thought to be Cunda. Today rather than Alibey mot people know it as Cunda.

....You will like every aspect of Cunda: Summer, winter, day or night the narrow streets stone houses, fish restaurants on the water, coffee houses, old church, the school, the sunshine on the sea, fishing boats, olive trees, the silhouette of Ayvalık in the distance...
